PENTAX-DA 18-135MM F/3.5-5.6 WR LENS
The Pentax SMC DA 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 ED AL (IF) DC WR Lens is a high-quality telephoto zoom lens that is designed for exclusive use with Pentax digital SLR cameras. It offers a focal length that is equivalent (in 35mm format) from 27.5 to 207mm. This wide coverage is ideal for a variety of telephoto applications, including portraiture, sports and scenery.
The image circle in DA-series lenses is designed to perfectly match the 23.5mm x 15.7mm size of the CCD used in Pentax digital SLRs to optimize camera performance. This design also contributes to a drastic reduction in size, weight and production cost compared to 35mm-format counterparts with similar specifications.
Pentax DA (DA-Star) zoom lenses come equipped with the SDM System, which assures smoother, quieter auto-focusing operation by using a built-in supersonic motor. Like all Pentax lenses, this lens is treated with smc coating for maximum light transmission, sharp definition, and high contrast images.
Attaching this lens to a PENTAX digital SLR camera enables use as a 7.5x high-magnification zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 27.5mm (wide) to 207mm (telephoto) in 35mm film format. This lens is suitable for a wide range of typical photographic situations, from landscapes, snapshots, and portraits to sports events. It uses an advanced optical design for providing high magnification in a compact, lightweight body and its easy operability and mobility make it suitable as a lens for everyday use.
Simple drip-proof construction
This lens uses a simple drip-proof construction for preventing water from getting inside the lens. Combined with PENTAX digital SLR cameras also using a drip-proof construction enables use in rainy or foggy conditions, or other locations exposed to water for enhanced durability and reliability.
Internal lens motor for smooth autofocus operation
A DC motor for the autofocus (AF) incorporated within the lens enables smooth autofocus operation (Note 1). A non-rotating mechanism is also used for locking the focus ring during autofocus so that the lens is held in the same position as manual focus. Note 1: The compatible models are the K-70/K-1/K-3II/K-3/K-S2/K-S1/K-50/K-30/K-5 II/K-5IIs/K-5/K-01/K-7/K-r/K-x/K-m/K20D/K200D/K10D FW Ver.1.30/K100D Super. If attached to other cameras, focusing is performed using the manual focus.
High delineation performance
The optical system uses one ED (extra-low dispersion) glass and one hybrid aspherical lens (AL) and one glass mold aspherical lens. This system enables correcting of various types of aberration and high delineation performance in a compact body design.
Round iris diaphragm for producing beautiful out-of-focus (bokeh) effect
This lens uses a round diaphragm for reducing the beams of light when shooting point light sources for enabling a more natural out-of-focus (bokeh) effect.
Realizes minimum shooting distance of 0.4 m in the zoom range.
Uses "Quick-Shift Focus System" for enabling manual focus operation after focusing by AF without any switching operation.
Uses SP (super protect) coating for protecting the lens surface from water and dirt.
Thanks to advanced Pentax optics design technology, this lens has been designed to be compact and lightweight despite its high zoom ratio, making it a versatile, maneuverable everyday-use lens.
A simplified weather-resistant construction and an extra-smooth autofocus operation using a built-in motor, in addition to its high 7.5-times zoom ratio, allow the DA 18-135mm WR to accommodate a wide range of subjects and scenes that photographers come across in their shooting sessions - from scenic images and snapshots to portraits and sports photos.
- Weather Resistant construction
- Direct Current* motor for extra smooth autofocus operation
- SP (Super Protect) Coating applied to the front surface to repeal dust, water and grease
- Round-shaped diaphragm to produce beautiful bokeh
- Quick-Shift focus system
* This lens is compatible with the Pentax K-5, K-r, K-7, K-x, K-m, K2000, K20D, K200D, K100D Super and K10D (with firmware v. 1.30 or above installed). When mounted on other camera bodies, the focus mode is automatically switched to manual.
