SP 90mm F/2.8 Di USD MACRO 1:1
Di : for all DSLRs
A new masterwork lens in the 90mm Macro, which features beautiful blur effects and sharp images while inheriting the Tamron tradition
Tamron's classic 90mm Macro lens is reborn with Vibration Compensation (VC) image stabilization*1, Ultrasonic Silent Drive (USD) motor, and new advanced optical design. It uses two Extra Low Dispersion (XLD) glass elements made from specialized, high-grade glass and one Low Dispersion (LD) element, which are combined to ensure sharp images by thoroughly correcting any aberration. In addition, its new advanced optical design and a rounded diaphragm*2 have enabled this lens to achieve spectacular blur effects. The new eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating yields significant anti-reflection properties, efficiently reducing undesired flare and ghosting to an absolute minimum to deliver sharp, crisp images. The lens also boasts improved operability enabled by the Internal Focusing (IF) system, which focuses without protruding the lens group, as well as full-time manual focus that enables fine focus adjustments. The lens also comes in a moisture-resistant construction that helps prevent moisture from penetrating the lens.
*1 The Sony mount does not include the VC image stabilization functionality, as Sony digital SLR camera bodies include image stabilization functionality. Consequently, the name of the Sony mount lens, SP 90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO 1:1 USD, does not include the VC description.
*2 This rounded diaphragm retains a nearly circular shape even when taken two stops down from its fully open state.
Tamron SP 90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO 1:1 VC USD Lens For Canon
State-of-the-art optical and image stabilizing technologies combine
to create a new masterwork lens in the 90mm Macro.
Images of astounding sharpness, augmented by natural blur effects.
Tamron's classic 90mm Macro lens is reborn to let you shoot even more
beautiful, exquisite images. Compatible with full-size SLR cameras,
this new, high-resolution macro lens lets the photographer capture the
moment's atmosphere at will.
High resolution with beautiful blur effects
Two XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) glasses*1 made from specialized,
high-grade glass and one LD (Low Dispersion) element are combined to
thoroughly correct aberration. Moreover, the latest optical design and
rounded diaphragm*2 deliver a spectacular blur effect. This macro lens
maintains sharp focus on the subject together with soft natural
blurring of foregrounds and backgrounds to achieve a richer, deeper
feel in the image.
*1 The XLD glass has much lower dispersion, similar to fluorite, than
the conventional LD element.
*2 This rounded diaphragm retains a nearly circular shape even when
taken two stops down from its fully open state.
VC (Vibration Compensation)*3
This macro lens is equipped with VC image stabilization mechanism that
delivers sharp and vivid viewfinder images. Even in low-light
situations, camera shake is reduced to enable stress-free hand-held
*3 From 3m, the benefits of VC gradually decrease as the focus distance
New eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating
Lenses with eBAND Coating offer dramatically improved control over
flare and ghosting even in extremely poor light conditions.
This new coating technique developed by Tamron deploys a
nano-structured layer (1nm = 1/1,000,000mm) of ultra-low refractive
index, with dimensions smaller than the wavelengths of visible rays of
This nano-structured layer coupled with the sophisticated multiple
layer coatings underneath, yields significant anti-reflection
properties, efficiently reducing undesired flare and ghosting to an
absolute minimum to deliver sharp, crisp images.
Moisture-resistant construction helps prevent moisture from penetrating
USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive)
The quiet high-torque USD motor ensures a speedy and accurate autofocus
1:1 Maximum magnification ratio
The maximum magnification ratio of the new 90mm Macro is 1:1, which
lets you reproduce a life-size image of the subject on the image
sensor. This lens is suited to close-up photography of small objects,
enabling the photographer to capture the minute world that otherwise
would be missed when viewed just by the naked eye.
IF (Internal Focusing) System
The lens incorporates the IF system, which focuses by moving only the
internal lens group. The overall length of the lens therefore does not
change when focusing, thus ensuring a broad working distance. As a
result, comfortable macro shooting is enabled.
Full-time manual focus
Fine focal adjustments using manual focus can be made during autofocus
shooting, without the need to change focus mode.
Compared with the conventional mechanical limit switch, there is no
need to manually set to the focal position using a distance scale, and
the switch can be changed at any time.
The AF focal range can be selected in advance, enabling prompt auto
focusing to suit the photographic situation.
The photographer can select from FULL (0.3m - infinity), 0.5m -
infinity, and 0.3m - 0.5m.
